M.I.A.

7 days without a post... and here I set myself a goal of posting more often! Boy oh boy... well actually now it’s girl oh girl! ha! It has been a busy week and I am checkin’ in just for a moment.
I have lots of pictures and projects and events I will be posting about in the next little while. I am still recovering from a hectic week of work and baby stuff. We had a few doctors’ appointments last week that had us running around as well as the daily grind making everything chaotic.
Our doctor’s appointment at the hospital went well... after 3 hours of uncooperative baby :)
This little Miss is apparently as stubborn as her father and mother.
Three hours, 2 nurses, 4 ultrasounds, one quick jog around the hospital, a coffee and three chocolate bars... we got her moving and visible. She is either really camera shy or really stubborn, lol! Ricardo and I think it’s more along the lines of stubborn!
Everything is coming along well. She is growing and kicking and pulling a few karate moves now and again and I love it! So, while I could post our ultrasound pictures, I will spare you. I am probably one of few that can admit that my little girl, on photo, looks like an extraterrestrial being...so instead, I am posting two cute picture of baby bump (quality: poor ... but you try taking a full body picture via webcam!)
Till soon!

homemade pasta

Homemade pasta, seriously the best thing eva’!

My ex-roomy and I had said, just like that one day, “Hey we should make our own pasta”... then he went out and bought a pasta machine and started without me!
I am not mad but now he is better than me.

A few weeks ago we made ricotta and parmesan filled pasta goodness with homemade sauce all from scratch. I have never in my life tasted something so good... fresh pasta is the bomb!

I got to roll out the pasta sheet ONCE till ex-roomy fired me and assigned me to an easier more foolproof task...stuffing the pasta.
This weekend we are going for round two.

Have I graduated to level 2?
Will he let me use the fancy pasta maker machine?
Or will he just show off his incredible skills and make me watch?

I swear I will do better, my pasta sheets will be more proportional and less slanted and weirdly shaped, I promise, scouts honour!

to make pasta you need this machine
and
when hooked onto the kitchen table, rolling pasta towards the outside of the table, you need a pretend wall
to stop the dogs from eating the pasta as it comes out of the machine!

then your kitchen will ressemble a hot mess like this one
once at work
you need a picture like this
of the men in the kitchen, rolling and stuffing pasta
...even though husband's participation started
and stopped at this picture, shhh!

you also need a picture like this so that when I ask for my badge
to pass on to level two, ex-roomy wont be able to say
"when did you make pasta? never. no memory. level one"

you need to cook the sauce while making the pasta
this is where my multitasking skill paid off

and voila!
fresh pasta

Have you ever made homemade pasta?

Simple yet still funky!

Contrary to all of my multiple layer craziness, I have put together a few brooches and barrettes that are a bit tamer, calmer, les crazy but still funky (here are only two pics out of the creation madness). Do you girls like this new approach and style? Is simpler better? I would love to hear from you amazing woman out there.

Spring Goodness or just a Teaser

The weather is nice, its sunny and warm and even the bears have woken from hibernation three weeks early here. Does this mean spring is right around the corner? I would love to think so but experience says we should be in store for at least one or two more snow storms. I really hope spring is here!
And well what says spring like cute colourful accessories !
Light Gray, Turquoise and Yellow barette

Punk*Rocker*Chick colors ... some hot pink, some black some white...you like?

Goals & Garland

I have recently realized I really do not want to go back to a desk job after maternity leave. I want to sit in a studio all day and be creative. I want to be able to pay my bills with my passions.
I don’t like answering phones, talking to rude customers, invoicing and everything else that involves an office, a desk and a phone. Ha!
So I have found my motivation after every day of work saying “I don’t really wanna go back tomorrow!”... so for the past few nights, after I battle traffic, get out of my work clothes, make dinner, feed and walk the dogs, I have been sitting at my desk being creative (pictures to follow of my last few night jems)

Goals {before baby comes & mat. leave is over}:
* Create, create, and create some more
* Take awesome pictures of my work (which means figuring out my fancy cam)
* Get business cards, packaging and ‘what nots’ figured out
* Get my blog looking the way I want it
* Build a gorgeous portfolio and find stores that will sale my stuff
* Get an Etsy shop going
* Be ready for major holydays and have holiday sales ready (mother’s day, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, etc.)
* Possibly try and enter into the ‘events’ (weddings and what not) market of the little things that make an event special (just like the work I did for my own wedding)
* Participate in a few craft fairs
* Start a product line of unique creations to help raise funds for Sophie’s Dog Adoption

... TEN really B-I-G goals! Will I be able to do it? Will I accomplish my goal?

Till the finish line, I will keep you posted on my journey, my progress and my accomplishments.

But for now, I want to make this heart garland and add a few forest creatures (like owls!) to the center of the hearts. I think it will add a nice “I love you Baby” touch to the nursery.
I found this project on a cute blog name “Made by Rae”!
